What is omics ?

Omics is a One-Day National Level Technical Symposium Organized  by The Department of Biotechnology, Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering (SVCE), Pennalur, Sriperumbudur since the year 2007.

 

Why the name "Omics"?

Proteomics, Genomics, Metabolomics, Lipidomics, Neuromics, etc are all branches of Biotechnology and hence the name. Omics is a platform to showcase the talents of budding biotechnologists in diverse fields viz.

Molecular Biotechnology,Genetic engineering,Bioinformatics,Biofuels,Plant-biotechnology,Nanobiotechnology,Tissue engineering and regenerative medicine,Genomics and Proteomics,Environmental biotechnology,Bioprocess technology, Biochemical engineering ,Diagnostics and therapeutics.

 

What do we do in omics ?

We invite students from various parts of India to participate in technical and non-technical events like Paper Presentation, Poster Presentation, Inquizzitive, JAM2 turn it and taboo. This is a symposium conducted for the students by the students.
